Our mission
ISPA, Agoria and Beltug established DNS, a non-profit organization, in 1999.
Our mission is to register domainnames under dot.be, to facilitate the Internet access and to stimulate its use.

Following tasks are performed by DNS:
- set up registration policies & procedures and rules and regulations
- organize quality assurance of domainname registration in Belgium
- organize all technical aspects related to the registration
- make agreements with registration agents
- coordinate domainname registration at a national level
- represent .be in international regulatory bodies and work groups.
- follow the evolution of domainname technology.
- stimulate standardization.
- stimulate cooperation between Internet Service Providers.
On December 11th 2000 we completely changed our way of working. We decentralized registration through our new agent network. The application procedure was automated and made simpler. Individuals can also obtain a domainname and general words/names can be registered.
