Change registrar
A domain name is registered for the registrant and not for the registrar who manages it. This means that you are free to change to another registrar at any time.Transferring a domain name to a new registrar: step by step
1. Request transfer code
2. Receive transfer code
DNS.be sends the transfer code to the registrant's e-mail address as mentioned in our registration system. It is clear that it is very important to have a correct e-mail address. You can check your e-mail address filling in the domain name in the whois tool on our website. If the e-mail address is no longer valid, you need to contact your current registrar requesting him to update it.
The registrant contacts his "new" registrar (the one who will manage his domain name after execution of the transfer) or his "current" registrar (the one who has managed his domain name until now) asking him to request with DNS.be the transfer code linked to his domain name. The registrant can also request the transfer code directly with DNS.be via the whois page of his domain name. More information on this can be found here.

3. Choose a new registrar
If you haven't chosen a new registrar yet, contact a new registrar from our list of DNS.be registrars. You need to provide this registrar with all the necessary details, as you would do for a new registration.
You pass on the transfer code to the registrar to whom you wish to move your domain name.
5. Set up name server
The new registrar will use your details to set up a name server. To avoid problems it is best to take this step before proceeding with step 6.

7. Process the transfer
The internal application at DNS.be simply checks to see whether the code provided corresponds with the domain name for which the transfer is being requested. If the code-check is positive, the transfer is completed immediately and the registrar is notified of the change.
An e-mail is sent to the former registrar to inform him that the domain name concerned is transferred away. The DNS.be name servers and the WHOIS will show the new data immediately.
