Change registrant
The new transfer procedure doesn't make a distinction between a change of registrar and the change of registrant, with or without a change of registrar.Transferring a domain name to a new registrant: step by step
1. Request transfer code
The current registrant contacts his "current" registrar (the one who has managed his domain name until now) or his "new" registrar (the one who will manage his domain name after execution of the trade) asking him to request with DNS.be the transfer code linked to his domain name. The registrant can also request the transfer code directly with DNS.be via the whois page of his domain name. More information on this can be found here.
Alternatively, the "new" registrant can contact the old or the new registrar to request the transfer code. In this case as well, the transfer code will be sent to the old registrant who sends it to the new registrant.
2. Receive transfer code
DNS.be sends the transfer code to the registrant's e-mail address as mentioned in our registration system. It is clear that it is very important to have a correct e-mail address. You can check your e-mail address filling in the domain name (without .be) in the whois tool on our website. If the e-mail address is no longer valid, you need to contact you current registrar requesting him to update it. The current registrant send the transfer code he received from DNS.be to the new registrant taking over the domain name.

3. Choose a registrar
If the new registrant doesn't have a registrar yet, you contact one of our list of official DNS.be registrars, unless you wish the current registrar to make the change.

4. Read the conditions!
The registration of a .be domain name (and therefore also a name transfer) implies that you expressly accept the general terms and conditions for end-users. The registrar you have chosen must submit these conditions to you on registration of your domain. If your registrar did not submit the conditions to you, then you can consult them here.

8. Process the transfer
The internal application at DNS.be simply checks to see whether the code provided corresponds with the domain name for which the transfer is being requested. If the code-check is positive, the transfer is completed immediately and the registrar is notified of the change. If you choose to move your domain name to a new registrar as well, the former registrar is informed now that the domain name concerned is transferred away. The DNS.be name servers and the WHOIS show the new data immediately.
